Mother and Her Story
Andrea Guadalupe Rueda Andrade is 28 years old and was born in Durango. When she was 12 years old, she moved to Ensenada with her grandmother and her two brothers after her biological mother left them in their grandmother’s care. Andrea only went to school through middle school.
During her adolescence, she learned where her mother was living in Ensenada, as she longed to reunite with her, although her grandmother did not support them reestablishing contact.
At the age of 20, Andrea entered into a relationship and moved to San Quintín with her partner. She became a mother for the first time at 24 years old, and during the six-year relationship she had two children. A year ago, the relationship ended due to domestic violence. Seeking safety and stability, Andrea returned to Ensenada to live with her biological mother, who welcomed her and her two children. Although she is grateful for her mother’s support, it has been challenging to depend on shared housing.
Since 2020, Andrea has been making monthly payments of 1,000 pesos (approx 58 dls) toward the purchase of a plot of land valued at 100,000 pesos (approx 5,800 dls). She currently owes 35,000 pesos (approx 2,058 dls). Due to financial limitations and raising her children on her own, she has not yet been able to begin construction.
Andrea works at a store, and her mother helps care for the children while she is at work. Her greatest hope is to build a safe and spacious home of her own, as the place where they currently sleep is very small and does not provide adequate space for her children.
Her Children
Kaori Camila Martínez Rueda is 4 years old and was born in Ensenada. She is a joyful and loving child who brings happiness to her family.
Dante Gamaliel Martínez Rueda is 2 years old and was born in San Quintín. He is an active and sweet little boy who especially loves dogs.
Why?
Andrea has shown courage and determination in rebuilding her life after experiencing domestic violence. As a single mother working hard to provide for her children, she has already taken an important step by securing a piece of land for their future home. However, without additional support, building a safe and stable house remains out of reach.
Her dream is simple but meaningful: to give her children a secure, comfortable, and permanent home where they can grow up with stability and hope. With support, that dream can become a reality.
Thank you for being part of Andrea and her children’s journey toward a brighter future.
