In the wake of devastating flooding in Baja California, families are facing unimaginable loss. Together, we can help them begin again.
When Everything Changes Overnight
For families living in Maneadero, just south of Ensenada, life looks very different after a devastating storm swept through their communities.
Heavy rains brought flooding and landslides, leaving homes filled with mud, roofs destroyed, and families struggling to make sense of what remains. Some have lost loved ones. Others are still waiting for news of missing family members.
In one neighborhood, a collapsed bridge has cut off access, leaving families displaced and uncertain about when they will be able to return home.
For many, the question isn’t simply how to rebuild. It’s where to begin.
These aren’t distant communities or unfamiliar faces. These are our neighbors. The families who live and work in the very communities where Baja Bound serves. Families whose lives and stories matter deeply to us.
More Than Building Homes
At Baja Bound, our mission has always been about more than putting four walls and a roof over a family’s head.
It’s about loving our neighbors, caring for those in need, and sharing the hope of Jesus through meaningful action.
Most days, that looks like bringing groups together to build homes for hardworking families living in poverty throughout Baja.
But sometimes, serving our neighbors means showing up in unexpected ways.
Right now, it means standing alongside families who have lost so much and helping them take the first steps toward recovery.
Helping Families Begin Again
As communities begin to assess the damage, we continue to organize volunteers to help residents clear mud, recover belongings, and begin repairing damaged homes as conditions allow.
The needs are immediate and practical.
Families staying in shelters need food, clothing, blankets, and everyday essentials. Parents with young children need diapers and baby formula. Homes damaged by the storm need materials for roof repairs before families can safely return.
These may seem like simple things. But when you’ve lost nearly everything, a warm blanket, a meal, or a dry place to sleep can mean more than words can express.
And sometimes, the greatest gift is simply knowing that someone cares enough to show up.
Faith That Moves Us to Action
Scripture reminds us:
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18
This verse reflects the heart of Baja Bound.
We believe God’s love is meant to be lived out. In the homes we build, the relationships we form, and the moments when we come alongside families facing unimaginable hardship.
We cannot undo the devastation of this storm. We cannot replace the lives lost or erase the grief families are carrying.
But we can show up.
We can help clear the mud. We can provide a meal. We can repair a roof. We can remind a family that they have not been forgotten.
And through those simple acts of love, we pray that families will experience hope in the middle of heartbreak.
Will You Stand With Maneadero?
The road to recovery will take time, and the needs are greater than any one person or organization can meet alone.
But together, we can make a difference.
Whether through prayer, volunteering, or a financial gift, you can help bring comfort and practical support to families working to rebuild their lives.
At Baja Bound, we often say we’re getting babies off dirt floors. Today, that mission also means helping families whose homes have been damaged or destroyed find their footing again.
Because loving our neighbors doesn’t end when the storm passes.
It’s often when our love is needed most.
