Azusa Pacific University Announces Baja Bound Partnership

The Center for Student Action at Azusa Pacific University has designated Baja Bound as a new partner for student missions in Mexico. In 2019 Baja Bound assumed responsibility for APU's Ensenada operations, and now they have been entrusted with additional Mexico trips for the University.

Last weekend we took a break from our house build and visited a favorite children's home and witnessed an amazing sight. When big burly men put down their house-building hammers to receive hugs at the home for disabled children, we're reminded that the heart is the most valuable muscle of all.

A new collaboration to better serve Baja

Effective October 1, 2019, Baja Bound has begun a separate partnership with Rumbo Al Valle de la LIBERTAD, a new non-profit based in Ensenada, to better serve the working poor of Mexico. All operations, staff, and activities in Mexico will occur under the separate authority of Baja Bound's Mexican partner organization.

A father’s dream

Abraham lost his home in Mexicali, and traveled to Ensenada to find work. After receiving his home from Baja Bound he was able to immediately send for his boys, wife and daughter.

Azusa Pacific University entrusts a legacy to Baja Bound

Azusa Pacific University recently announced they will be endorsing the bulk of their student missions work in the Ensenada area to Baja Bound. Plans are currently underway to perfectly mirror the APU program with a new BAJA CAMPO program run by Baja Bound.

Last weekend we arrived at the new worksite to discover a visibly pregnant mom anxiously waiting to move out of her shack and into her new home. How wonderful that mom and child arrive back from hospital to a new home!

This summer we have welcomed groups from California, Michigan, New York, Oregon, Washington, Louisiana, Nevada, and Arizona. We remain amazed at the compassion and care that all of our groups bring to the people of Baja.

Baja Bound's one and only Nati gathered a group of family and friends to celebrate her 23rd birthday Puerto Rican style. At just 23 Nati is our youngest house build organizer and has an incredible heart for the people of Baja.

Jan 2017 – The Greatness Foundation / Mike’s Birthday!

This weekend was filled with cars so full of groceries for needy families we couldn't close the doors, sticky fingers from patching leaky roofs, dirty shoes from soccer, dirt stained cheeks from the tears of stories of hardship, splintered fingers and love.

Baja Educational Initiative launching NOW!

We have grieved over the reality that many talented young children in Baja will never reach their full academic potential. We have set a goal of raising funds to support 25 exceptional young students per year.

Feb 2014 – Cindy’s 40th Birthday Build!

Our dear friend Cindy decided to celebrate her 40th Birthday by gathering her friends and family to join her in gifting a single mom and her children with a new home. This weekend was a beautiful picture of how we can all be agents of change!

Christmas 2013 – Journey

Three families received homes over the Christmas break as Journey Church joined forces with several other churches in the L.A. region! We are so thankful for this incredible band of brothers and sisters.

Thanksgiving 2013 – Sunridge

For the past several years, Sunridge has been faithfully coming to Baja over Thanksgiving break to build a home for a needy family. How appropriate to give back to others out of hearts of gratitude!

Jan 2013 -Rancho Vista Church

Every year Rancho Vista faithfully serves the people of Baja by providing a family with a new, warm and insulated home. We are grateful for their consistent ministry to the poor and oppressed of Baja.

Sept 2013 – Rock MACS

The Rock MACS gathered together this summer to gift a single mom and her family with a new home. This team knows how to work hard and have a great time!

August 2013 – Baja Framing Trip

So thankful for this faithful group of men and women who came together to build phase one of a home for the Perez family of 8! The children and parents were empowered as they labored alongside this team to help build their new home.

Memorial Day Weekend 2013

Our team labored alongside one another in record time to complete this home for Antonio and his beloved family! 14 people are now in a safe, clean environment.

Spring Break 2013 – Linfield

Forty-six teens from Linfield School spent their spring break giving back to a needy family. How refreshing it is to see such a great team of young people selflessly serving others.

Spring Break 2013 – River Church

Several families from River Church in Palos Verdes spent their vacation time building a home for a family that was living in a cold, drafty tent. Parents served side by side with their children as they brought hope to others.

April 2013 – Shalom

Our beloved team from Michigan spent a great week in February transforming the lives of two families in need. They also spent time serving at a local orphanage and stocking the families' homes with much needed items.

Christmas 2012 – Journey

Journey Church brought their incredible team again and changed the lives of three families this past Christmas by gifting them with new homes! What a joy it is to see this amazing team bring the hope of the gospel.

Thanksgiving 2012 – Sunridge

Sunridge Church gathered together over Thanksgiving weekend to gift this family with a proper home. This region gets windy, wet and cold and a makeshift tent is no place to raise a family.

Labor Day Weekend 2012 – Harbor Church and The Rock

This team managed to finish the home in only 2 1/2 days while immersing themselves fully with the family and surrounding neighbors. Moved by his determination, a team member is now sponsoring Eduardo for his educational expenses.

Rancho Vista Church – August 2012

Rancho Vista Church sent their "A" team this past August to complete a home for a family of 10 who were living in a cardboard structure they called home. This church build project happened to fall on the hottest days of the summer.

Shalom Lutheran – July 2012

Not only did they completely transform the lives of a single mom and her three kids by gifting them with a new home but they also invested extra time in getting to know them. On the day the team presented the family with their new home, they opened the door to discover special gifts for each family member located throughout the home.

June 2012 – Trinity School of Manhattan

This past June we welcomed a team of High School students from Trinity School in Manhattan to build a house for a single mom, named Ruffina. Thanks to the generosity of this team, the family has been reunited and they are now living in a warm and suitable home.

Memorial Day Weekend 2012

We had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend serving a local orphanage and assisting the Village of Hope with their large Cosecha event. Literally thousands of people from the local villages showed up for this village celebration.

Spring Break 2012

The lives of three families were changed and filled with hope this past spring as we hosted three house building projects. Linfield School in Temecula, River Church in Palos Verdes and Harbor Church North County all spent their spring break sacrificially giving back to the people of Baja.

Journey Church Winter 2011

The mission team from Journey Covenant Church constructed four homes over a five-day window between Christmas and New Year's Day. On the last evening Journey Church hosted a party for the recipients of the new homes, their neighbors and many of the surrounding villages.

Rock II – August 2011

The Rock Church returned to Baja in August with another team ready to serve and build. They had a fantastic weekend connecting, serving and loving our neighbors to the South.

Aug 2011 – Rancho Vista Church

Rancho Vista returned in August for another house build project led by their fearless pastor, John Rose. They spend an incredible weekend connecting, serving and sharing God's heart for mercy and justice.

Nov 2011 – Harbor Church

Harbor Church North County, Ocean Beach and UTC gathered a fantastic team to build a home for this precious family of five. They made deep connections with the family and their surrounding neighbors.

Aug 2011 – The Rock MACs

They transformed the living conditions of this family of five from a tarp and scrap wood structure into a lovely 2 bedroom home. As an added touch, they creatively used the leftover wood and made benches, storage bins and shelves for the family.

Aug 2011 – Messiah Lutheran

Team Michigan invaded Baja in force this year! 22 young men and women took a family of eight out of a structure where 24 people resided and built them a home of their own.

She Dreams of Becoming a Doctor

Karla grew up in a village not unlike where Baja Bound currently builds, was a straight "A" student through high school, received a student visa to study in the US where she earned an AA degree with honors and has just returned to Ensenada to attend Medical School to become a doctor.

July 2011 – Sunridge

What a great week we had with the Sunridge EPIC Youth Group from Temecula! Not only did these teens and their leaders complete a home but they faithfully and joyfully served the surrounding villages.

Memorial Day 2011

We had a fantastic and "memorable" weekend serving the Gabriel House Orphanage and the surrounding villages of Southern Ensenada. The weekend was one filled with joyful service as we labored side-by-side, shared many laughs and made new friends.

Spring Break 2011

This month we welcomed two phenomenal groups from the Palos Verdes region who each gave the gift of a new home to impoverished families in Southern Ensenada. What an incredible way to prepare for Easter and celebrate the renewal we have in Christ by renewing the lives of others!

Baja Bound Memorial Day Road Trip

We are inviting all our Baja Bound friends to spend a weekend of food, fun, and significant service as we travel down to Ensenada. Our primary task will to repair the roof of the Gabriel House, an orphanage that houses and ministers to severely handicapped children.

On Saturday, June 20th, a team will be traveling down to south Ensenada to frame the "RVC HOME" we are building for a poor working family. We need anyone who can swing a hammer – or anyone with a large SUV or truck.

El Grande Trip

We are excited to be just two weeks away from the largest trip we have done in quite some time. Over 100 participants will be attempt to build 3 houses in less then one week.
