The things you can’t measure

Receiving a house marks a before and an after in a family’s life. Some aspects are obvious — a sturdy roof, a warm, dry house, healthier children. Some benefits are harder to measure, though. Moises now feels a new sense of pride as he nails the last roof shingle into place. Rosa knows that with a locking door, she will no longer need to sleep with a machete by the bed for protection when Moises leaves for work before dawn. And Sebastian? Watching his father work alongside his new American friends from Baja Bound, he is motivated to overcome his shyness and bring out his “tools” as well!
